March is Transgender Awareness Month, and the Mill Plain UMC Social Justice team is pleased to bring Jackie Stone from the Northwest Gender Alliance to lead a discussion that covers the scientific grounding of transgender, intersex and nonbinary people, the importance of pronouns and the reality of personal experiences so that we may learn how to best create a welcoming, safe and respectful community for all.
There is no fee to attend, but please bring a food item to donate to FISH Orchards food bank as part of Mill Plain UMC’s Lenten Food Drive.
For those who would like to explore the topic further, the book Transgender: Theology, Ministry and Communities of Faith by Rev. Dr. Justin Sabia-Tanis is a great resource.
