Welcome to Mill Plain UMC

Message from Pastor Sue

Welcome to Mill Plain United Methodist Church. You will find here a community of people seeking to grow in our faith and to respond in compassion to our community. This congregation has a deep passion for hands-on ministry with those in need. Some of our ministries are long-standing. For two decades we’ve been serving meals to low-income and homeless people at Share House, helping to staff the Winter Hospitality Overflow shelters, and working with children at Hearthwood Elementary School. Some of our ministries are new: The Little Free Pantry, and the Mill Plain Book Exchange. We are open to new ideas and new possibilities as God unfolds them before us.

Mill Plain is known as a friendly congregation, not just with people who have been here for years but also with those who walk in our doors for the first time. The COVID-19 pandemic challenged us because we missed each other!  We are glad to be able to do some of the events we have missed.

At the same time, the pandemic has opened us to a new world. Truly, the congregation had left the building, both in service as we always have, and now also in worship and study. Even when we couldn’t be together in person, we learned to offer worship virtually, so that we praise God and listen for God’s call at any time. The same thing is true for Sunday School, Bible studies, and books studies (see the calendar for details).

Mill Plain is filled with people who want to know you and walk together in faith with you. Welcome to our website and welcome to our church.
