Opening Song, The Joy of the Lord
Call to Worship
Worship Assistant: O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
People: You are a big, Big, BIG God, who by a word created light.
Worship Assistant: O God, how magnificent is your name.
People: You are tender and merciful, who came among us as a tiny infant.
Worship Assistant: In Jesus you wept for the sins of the earth and welcomed all to your table.
People: You are a big, Big, BIG God, who with a sigh brought love into the world.
As Jesus wept over Jerusalem, the city that killed prophets and would become the place of his death, so today, O God, we weep for the sins of the world. We lament for the smallness of our minds and the closed nature of our hearts. Gather us in by your grace to expand our table to welcome all your children. Amen

Dedication Of Teachers
Pastor: Dear friends, let us recognize those who have responded to the call of God . . .
Let us pray:
Eternal God, you have entrusted us with the message of your power, grace, justice, and love. Provide for us your guidance, that we may be teachers and learners together.
Believing that you are in our midst, we set apart those who would serve in our Christian education program. May they serve you in nurturing the spiritual growth of all who are entrusted in their care. Bless each one gathered before us, enabling them to be channels of your grace. We pray through Jesus Christi our Lord. Amen.
Pastor to Christian Education staff:
You have recognized God’s call in your lives.
Will you endeavor to develop your gifts for teach so as to continue to pass on the Christian faith?

Doxology How great is our God
At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” He said to them, “Go and tell that fox for me, ‘Listen, I am casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish my work. Yet today, tomorrow, and the next day I must be on my way, because it is impossible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem.’ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! See, your house is left to you. And I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
Sermon A Big, BIG God
Loving God, like a mother hen sheltering her brood, you cover us with your love. Move us to shelter those we meet with your love that all may know your grace. Amen.
Song Everlasting God
Blessed are those who come in the name of the Lord.
Blessed are those who go forth in the name of the Lord!
Thanks be to God.
